Who are we?

Why Mockingbird?

Mockingbirds listen first and then respond.  They learn through their curiosity and experience to gain confidence and overcome fears.  They are intelligent, playful and have unique abilities.

How does this relate to our children?

Our children are all unique with their skills, abilities and personalities.  However, sadly one thing they have all had in common is the negativity they have experienced in many aspects of their lives, education, socialisation, and acceptance.  This leads to low self esteem and depression.  At Mockingbird, the children are celebrated for who they are and actively encouraged to explore their curiosities.

What makes the Mockingbird Environment Unique?

'When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower' - Alexander Den Heijer

Mockingbird seeks to provide a safe space, mindful of the many different sensory needs.

This allows our children to grow and learn in the way that they can.  Just like the Mockingbird.

What do the children do at Mockingbird?

Mockingbird provides an environment for the children to acquire social skills and enable natural growth and maturity without peer pressure.  As children grow in confidence so does their ability to absorb the skills that they require in life.

Mockingbird provide activities  in all areas of life, from IT, Art and Science. to Baking, Knitting and Health and Nutrition, ensuring children have the opportunity to gain general life, leadership, and social tools.  Activities are displayed as optional which allows the children a platform to develop and grow interests when they are able to and at their own pace.
